Jess

July 1999

Jess is my puppy. She is just 12 weeks old. She is a Golden Retriever. Jess wags her tail when she sees me and sometimes tries to bite my feet. I have to say "no" quite loudly. Jess loves her toys. I gave her a teddy to keep her company but she chews it. We can't take her for walks yet because she needs innoculations (jabs) from the vet. She has a collar and lead but she thinks it's to play with. We love her and I think she loves us too. She loves my plants in the garden. She must do because she's eaten them! She likes playing "fetch" with rolled up newspaper but sometimes stops and chews it.

Jess is now four months old. She has grown. She goes to play on the fields every day. She sniffs at everything. Sometimes she barks at things she hasn't seen before. She barked at a pile of leaves! She does not like going for a walk. She is not happy when she has her lead on. She is going to Training School to teach her how to behave. brown puppy walking Jess is very good at "come here". When she is walking too far away on the field, we say "Jess, come here", and she comes running back. We're very proud of her.

September 1999

Jess is five months old .She likes going for walks now. She pulls on the lead so we are trying to train her not to do this. Jess has a kennel. It's her own little house.

She stays in the kennel when we go to work and when we go shopping. It looks like a shed and even has it's own window. She has her own bed and blanket inside to keep her cosy.

Jess is six months old now. She has chewed her teddy until all the stuffing came out. I had to throw it away. She has pulled some wallpaper off the wall in the kitchen. She has bones to chew now. She loves going for walks and is very good on the lead. We are going away for 2 days at half term. Jess will have to go into boarding kennels. I hope she likes it.

November 1999

Jess did not like the boarding kennels. She did not eat for 2 days and did a lot of "sulking". She is OK now.

I did not know how she would be on Bonfire Night. She was brilliant and amazing. There were BANGS and CRACKLES all night but she slept and didn't wake up even once. I am waiting for some photographs of Jess to be developed. She is very big now.

December 1999

We have discovered that Jess loves water. Any water. Dirty water is best. All the fields are muddy with the rain at the moment. When Jess goes for a walk, she slides and paddles in the puddles. Then she rolls over on her back. She shakes herself and then does it all over again. When we come back home we have to wash her with the garden hose to get the mud out of her fur. She loves it!

February 2000

Jess is just getting better all the time. She went back in the kennels last week because we went to Spain. I think she liked it this time but she was very pleased to see us when we came back. We may be able to take her with us next time as dogs can have their own passport now.

Write and tell me all about your pets now you know all about Jess.

I have an update about Jess. She is nearly three years old. Jess is going to live in Spain! She has visited the vets to get her jabs and her pet passport. She will be going in June to live with my husband in a place called Quesada on the Costa Blanca. I wonder if she will remember me when I go and visit for the Summer holidays? I think she will!!

August 2002

Jess has settled very well in Spain. She seems to like the hot weather and instead of rolling in the mud, she likes rolling in the dust! Here is a photo of Jess and my husband in Spain.

casita de Jess

An update about Jess. We have moved to a new villa in Spain. This villa has lots of room for Jess to run and play. She has a different kennel now. She goes into the casita to have a rest away from the sun.
