My Pet Lizard

This is about my pet lizard who is called Spike and how I look after it

lizard's head
Spike is a Geco Leopard Lizard. He is about 17 cms. long to the tip of his tail. Spike is brown, green and yellow. His skin is rough not smooth.

He sheds his skin every few months and eats it. It is good for him. All their fat and their food goes to their tail. He has a water bowl. Some lizards like their tank to be sprayed with water on the walls

The light is on in his tank all day. It has to be 80 degrees He lives in a heated tank. It has a heat mat underneath it and a light bulb on top. And a thermometer so I can see that it is always 80 degrees.

Gecko lizards eat crickets and wax worms and meal worms but my lizard does not like meal worms.

Spike does not have any teeth. When he eats the crickets he picks one up in his mouth, squashes it and swallows it. He has to catch them first.

When they live in the desert, lizards can go without food for 1 week. I feed Spike when his bowl is empty.
