You already use an Internet Service Provider (eg Wanadoo, Terra etc) to connect to the internet so you will have some free webspace on their server and also a web address to connect to this space. It is a simple task to upload your web site to this space via a program such as CuteFTP or WP-FTP.
If you would like to buy a domain name, that reflects the name of your business or organisation, and space for hosting that site which will be free of 3rd party adverts, I upload the site on your behalf.

A few frequently asked questions
(q) I want an all singing/dancing website.
(a) Simple websites are best.They load quicker and do not detract from your products and services. A simple design will be easier to rank well in the search engines.

(q) Can you write me a website even though my business is in Scotland?
(a) Yes, everything can be done over the internet or the telephone. If customers live locally, it would be preferable to arrange a consultation but not essential.

(q) Can I see the design while my website is under development?
(a) Yes, once the design for the main page has been completed it will be uploaded to our server for your approval. After approval the rest of the website will be developed.

(q) How long will the design of my website take?
(a) If you are just having a website designed and developed, about two weeks. If you are having optimisation carried out as well, around three weeks.

(q) How much do you charge for updates?
(a) My minimum charge is 20 euros an hour. I will not usually charge for a small change.

Search Engine Optimisation
Search engine optimisation is best incorporated into the original design of your website Having your website designed and optimised for search engines from the start could save you money in the long run.
I will suggest keyword phrases, i.e, phrases people will use to search for your product/service, and incorporate these phrases into the text content of your site. I can also submit your website to the major search engines and directories.They charge an annual fee for this. If you would like to discuss search engine optimisation for your business, however small it may be, I'll be happy to help, no obligation.
There are also other ways to publicise your website - always incorporate the web address on all your business cards, adverts and stationery.

Site logs
Would you like to know how long your visitors remain at your site, where they come from and what they look at? I can supply you with this information. Site logs provide information about the number of daily/monthly visitors, how your visitors found the page, the words they used to search with, the page they went into first and which page they were on when they left.

Write your own Web site in HTML
Would you like to be able to learn HTML and write your own site? I can give one to one or small group tuition in HTML. I am a qualified teacher and have 8 years recent experience of training teachers to use ICT in their classrooms. There will be a minimum of three, 2 hour sessions and this will cost 150 euros. Only for clients with a good working knowledge of computers and the internet. Venue to be agreed. No special program necessary. HTML will be written in Windows Notepad.
